Rihanna & Lupita Nyong’o to Star In a Buddy Movie, Thanks to Viral Twitter Campaign
Netflix has latched onto perhaps one of the greatest ideas ever: a buddy movie starring Rihanna and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o!
Ava DuVernay (Selma) will direct with Issa Rae (Insecure) will be writing the screenplay, which all started on Twitter.
Netflix won the project after a very aggressive bid at Cannes Film Festival, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The project began as a meme, which was a photo taken in 2014 of both Rihanna and Lupita at the Miu Miu fashion show. It had gone viral, and prompted fans to start writing log lines for various movie ideas.
Fans even called on Ava and Issa on Twitter, and over time all four ladies responded on Twitter to the request.
Looks like the fans are getting what they asked for. Yas!
