Need $300 million? Just sue James Cameron!

A Florida man says that the Titanic director stole a story from him to create the iconic movie. According to TMZ, Stephen Cummings, who worked for years in the yacht industry, is claiming that the film is based on what happened to his family members who were on the ship. He allegedly told friends about their story, which was similar to the ill-fated story of Rose and Jack, and then James heard about it through word of mouth and used it for the movie. Yeeeah.

In addition to the $300 million, Stephen also wants one percent of the royalties. Considering the box office grossed $2.5 billion, that would be another hefty chunk of change! Even if his claim is proven to be true, there is no copyright law pertaining to an idea, so this is unlikely to end in success for Stephen.
