Paris Hilton Says She May Have Invented the Selfie
No doubt, Paris Hilton was the queen of the early 2000s world of Hollywood and celebrity. In a new interview with W magazine, she admits she might be the cause for not only the celebrity world we have today, but also selfie culture (and she could be right!).
“If a beeper had a camera, I would have taken a selfie with it,” she said. “I think I have a selfie from when I was a little kid, like on a disposable camera.”
She later spoke about her entourage, like Nicole Riche, Nicky Hilton, and others: “We started a whole new genre of celebrity that no one had seen before,” pointing out now it’s “so easy becoming famous” that “anybody with a phone can do it.”
“I want to have something substantial and something that lasts,” she said. Currently she’s working on Doing and growing her vast empire.
