Not long after we announced that Live With Kelly & Ryan co-host Ryan Seacrest said he was “open” to hosting American Idol should it ever return, producers of the hit show decided to bring it back on-air — this time meeting Ryan where he’s at: ABC!

ABC is expected to spill more details on the revival during its annual upfront presentation on May 16 in New York City.

“American Idol on ABC…that has a nice ring to it,” Ben Sherwood, co-chairman of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney|ABC, said in a statement. “Idol is an entertainment icon, and now it will air where it belongs, in ABC’s lineup of addictive fan favorites alongside Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor. America, get ready for the return of a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever Idol.”

Most likely, American Idol is probably going to be filming in New York City now. A source recently said that it was “entirely possible” to do it in the Big Apple, adding that a reboot with Ryan is “almost unthinkable. The fans want the show to come back and they want it with Ryan.”
