It was only a matter of time before Richard Simmons took legal action to protect his privacy.

The fitness guru plans to file a multi-complaint lawsuit against RadarOnline, the National Enquirer as well as its parent company American Media, Inc.

He alleges they published stories about him in a “hurtful campaign of defections and privacy invasions,” reports People magazine. The suit is going to be filed today.

Richard was recently hospitalized for severe indigestion and wrote a message on Facebook expressing his gratitude for the care takers at Cedars-Sinai as well as his fans.

“This has reminded me that when you need help you can’t be afraid to reach out and ask for it,” he said in a statement. “We all think we should always be able to solve our problems all by ourselves and sometimes it’s just bigger than we are. I reached out and I hope you will too,” Simmons continued. “I’m sure there are people in your life who love and care for you and would do anything to help you with the challenges you face. Just knowing you care has already made me feel better. Hope to see you again soon!”
