Ellen DeGeneres Says She Wishes She Came Out Sooner
When Ellen DeGeneres came out twenty years ago, she changed the game of how LGBT people are portrayed in film and TV. But in an interview with Today, the host still has regrets that she didn’t come out sooner.

“I was anticipating [her coming out episode] being a charged episode, which it was, because it was making a big decision to come out and to be honest and to stop hiding something that I kept secret for so long,” she said. “It was a big deal. I look back on it now and I think, I wish I would’ve done it sooner. I wish I hadn’t waited so long, but it was what it was.”
Matt Lauer then asked if she’d like to interview Trump:
“No. Because I’m not going to change his mind,” she replied. “He’s against everything that I stand for. We need to look at someone else who looks different than us and believes in something we don’t believe in and still accept them and still let them have their rights.”
