Barack Obama Proposed To Another Woman (Twice) Before He Met Michelle!

Allegedly, Michelle wasn’t the only woman in line to be first lady.

According to a new biography on Barack Obama, Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama by David J. Garrow, the future president had another prominent relationship before meeting his future wife.

The book says that Obama proposed to a woman named Sheila Miyoshi Jager — twice!

Sheila was a former student of anthropology and is now a professor at Oberlin College. This was obviously before he met then-Michelle Robinson, who took his breath away.

“In the winter of ’86, when we visited my parents, he asked me to marry him,” Sheila told the author, according to The Washington Post. She reportedly said, “Not yet.”

Sheila continued: “He became… so very ambitious.” Obama was 25 at the time. “I remember very clearly when this transformation happened, and I remember very specifically that in 1987, about a year into our relationship, he already had his sights on becoming president.”

Barack had supposedly asked her to postpone a trip to Seoul, Korea, to come with him to Cambridge, Massachusetts and get married. “Barack and Sheila had continued to see each other irregularly throughout the 1990-91 academic year, notwithstanding the deepening of Barack’s relationship with Michelle Robinson,” the author wrote, while Sheila said she “always felt bad about it.”

By the time Barack and Michelle got married in 1992, he and Sheila reduced their communication to an occasional phone call or letter.

The rest became history.

Clearly, Obama made the better choice.
