These Starlets Trash-Talked The Met Gala, But Ended Up Going Anyway – LOL!

People tend to watch The Met Gala and wish they were there, canoodling with the world’s royalty and dressed to the nines.

But some celebrities, like Tina Fey (who called it a “jerk parade”), Demi Lovato, Lena Dunham, and Amy Schumer would probably rather be home watching Netflix.

Here are some of what the stars said, as reported by Elle magazine.

Lena Dunham

“You and I were literally sitting across from each other at the Met Ball, and it was like a crazy countdown to when we could escape. You were like, ‘We’re honored to be here. We’re honored to be here,’ Lena said during her Lenny interview with Amy Schumer. She ended up leaving the event early, later saying that she was rejected by football player Odell Beckham Jr, later stating she “was not the shape of a woman by his standards….This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes.”

But that didn’t stop her from attending this year. “Commes des Garçons has always been for the creature who dares to be different, who needs clothing to be more than a way to telegraph wealth or culturally imposted supersexuality. Now THAT is a theme I can get behind,” she wrote on Instagram, “It’s easy to forget amidst the glitz just how much good this night does, raising millions to preserve just how much good this night does, raising millions to preserve essential artifacts and making sure style really is for everyone. Can I get an amen?”

Amy Schumer

I did it

Amy told Howard Stern that last year’s Met Gala felt like a punishment, stating: “I left not the second I could. I left earlier than I should’ve been allowed… It’s people doing an impression of having a conversation…I don’t like the farce….We’re dressed up like a bunch of fucking assholes.”

But… she still attended, captioning a photo of herself in a dress with, “I did it.”
