Sometimes you find a kindred spirit where you least expect it.

Gwyneth Paltrow had a sweet, surprising moment with a flight attendant recently. The star took to Instagram yesterday to share the message that touched her heart. The flight attendant had slipped her a little note with the words, “I was once a Daddy’s girl too. Blessings” inked on a napkin. Take a look:

When a flight attendant you’ve never met kinda knows you better than anyone #daddysgirl

Gwyneth captioned the picture with, “When a flight attendant you’ve never met kinda knows you better than anyone #daddysgirl.”

The note was in reference to the star’s close relationship with her late father, director Bruce Paltrow. Bruce died at the age of 58 after a long battle with throat cancer. Gwyneth was very open about the bond she had with her dad, and how profoundly affected she was by his death.  The actress referred to him as “the love of her life.” After his passing, she got more serious about her own health. She changed the way she ate and what toxins she exposed herself to, and created her own health conscious company, Goop.

The 44-year-old even wrote a cookbook inspired by her dad with an introduction that reads:

“I always feel closest to my father, who was the love of my life until his death in 2002, when I am in the kitchen. I can still hear him over my shoulder, heckling me, telling me to be careful with my knife, moaning with pleasure over a bite of something in only the way a Jew from Long Island can.”
