It’s hard to believe it’s been 21 years since RENT opened on Broadway — one of the Great White Way’s biggest successes in history.

Chronicling a group of friends in the middle of the AIDS crisis in New York city, the show sparked a much-needed outpouring of love for the first generation of AIDS survivors. Its star Idina Menzel was only 24-years old!
