Holy Crap, United Airlines Reached a GIGANTIC Settlement With Dr. Dao!

Here is the moment we’ve all been waiting for… the gigantic settlement with United Airlines. We all knew it was coming!

David Dao, the doctor who was videotaped being dragged off a United Airlines jet earlier this month that sparked worldwide outrage, finally reached a settlement with the airline. The incident was a PR nightmare for the airline, turning them into somewhat of a mockery across the nation.

Let’s refresh your memory:

Well, it turns out it might have been worth two lost teeth, a broken nose and a “significant” concussion (which Dr. Dao had according to his lawyers).

Attorney Thomas Demetrio announced the settlement today with a condition that the amount remain confidential, though word on the streets is it’s upwards of hundreds of millions of dollars!

Mr. Demetrio praised United CEO Oscar Munoz in a statement, saying: “Mr. Munoz said he was going to do the right thing, and he has. In addition, United has taken full responsibility for what happened on Flight 3411, without attempting to blame others, including the City of Chicago. For this acceptance of corporate accountability, United is to be applauded.”

He continued: “Dr. Dao has become the unintended champion for the adoption of changes which will certainly help improve the lives of literally millions of travelers. I sincerely hope that all other airlines make similar changes and follow United’s lead in helping to improve the passenger flying experience with an emphasis on empathy, patience, respect and dignity.”

Mr. Demetrio has a history, too. He’s negotiated well over $1 billion in settlements and acquired the largest personal injury verdict upheld by the Illinois Supreme Court. And he’s never lost an appeal. Not bad!
