Renowned Celebrity Stylist Dishes On How The F*ck She Got There!

Renowned celebrity stylist Monica Rose styles such celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Chrissy Teigen, Gigi Hadid, Khloe Kardashian, as well as other social media influencers.

Needless to say, she’s a hot commodity in Tinsel Town.

According to Cosmopolitan, Monica helped to popularize the modern street style: duster coats layered over tight dresses, a pair of jeans or shorts — a look that took a few years to catch on.

When she first moved to Los Angeles in 2001, it was a completely different story.

Monica first worked in editorial at the start, and wound up meeting Kim Kardashian in 2007 on a job and has worked with the family ever since. That’s a whole decade, ya’ll! And during that time, she’s been styling each of member of the family while steadily growing her client base.

While at Coachella, the 38-year old stylist spoke with Cosmo about her life and inspirations.

“I had to learn everything on my own, so I networked, I met photographers, and I did a lot of jobs for free at the beginning of my career,” she said. “I had a lot of doors closed in my face. People turned me down, [designers] would say, ‘We can’t loan, sorry.’ It sparked a lot of fire in me … I remember saying, ‘One day you’re going to open those doors for me…’ You know, you always forgive, but you never forget.”

On her street style: “What people love so much about the everyday looks is that they’re so relatable. People want to get ideas about what to wear in their own lives, and the red carpet is a bit more predictable. I don’t feel ownership of [duster-coat look] — I don’t feel ownership of anything, really. But I just loved how it looked. Sometimes I have to steer away from it to switch it up a bit, but we’ve even used silk robes. I love finding cool dusters with different fabrics.”

When it comes to designing for the likes of Chrissy, Khloe, Kendall, and Gigi:

“Sometimes they all get weird with me putting earrings on them,” she explained. “They’re like, ‘No, I’ll do it. That’s so weird that you put earrings on.’ It’s not one of them — it’s all of them. I just think of it [as if] if I were putting a necklace on them.
