President Obama Spoke & America Immediately Became Nostalgic
It is clear that America misses President Obama, and wants him back more than ever.
Obama made his first public speech ever the weekend during a visit to the University of Chicago. In it, he reflected on how he got his political start as a community organizer in the city over 30 years ago.
“So uh, what’s been going on while I’ve been gone?” he joked. “On the back end now of my presidency, now that it’s completed, I’m spending a lot of time thinking about what is the most important thing I can do for my next job? And what I’m convinced is that — although there are all kinds of issues that I care about and all kinds of issues that I intend to work on — the single most important thing I can do is to help in any way I can prepare the next generation of leadership to take up the baton and to take their own crack at changing the world.”
He continued: “Are there ways in which we can knock down some of the barriers that are discouraging young people about a life of service? And if there are, I want to work with them to knock down those barriers. And to get this next generation and to accelerate their move towards leadership.”
Following his speech, it didn’t take long for Twitter to start fanning out:

Unlike the Orange Turd, when President Obama spoke today none of the news networks had to fact check him in real time.

How wonderful to see President Obama today. I miss his intelligence, his leadership & his decency. Not the ignorant buffoon who is 45.

It’s so strange watching and listening to President Obama right now. It feels like ages ago that this sense of calm I feel was mundane.

Watching Obama be his smart, funny, compassionate and engaging self is a great reminder of how completely abnormal everything is now.
