The singer posted a picture of the Hindu goddess, Kali Ma, to Instagram yesterday, with a caption that has angered many followers. She wrote, “current mood” in reference to the photo of the Divine Mother, and many people felt it was offensive. Check out the post below:
One follower wrote, “This is a shameful and offensive act. You can’t compare yourself with The Great Goddess KALI MAA.” Another remarked, “Please do not compare yourself with God !! You can have any kind of mood what you want but you must respect other religion also!!” A third fan commented, “Respect her she is our goddess of hindu u can’t use it in this way , seriously u lost Respect in my eyes.”
The post was liked over 250,000 times, though, and many fans jumped to her defense. One wrote, “Well im an indian and Hindu also.this is not offensive at all.some people get offended so easily,” while another added, “Come on everyone… it’s nothing to get offended about… She didn’t disrespect. I’m also Hindu and a proud Indian.”
