That Time Melania Had to Nudge Donald to Raise His Hand for the National Anthem

At the nearly 21,000 guests for the 139th Easter Egg Roll at the White House yesterday, president and first lady Donald and Melania Trump addressed the crowd from the Truman Balcony.

Cameras caught Melania nudging Donald, a reminder to put his hand over his heart for the National Anthem. Sure, it might have been a cute and funny “married couple” moment (if it were anybody else). But soon, the gesture went viral.

Of course, it didn’t seem to bother Donald.

“We’re going to come out and join you, enjoy your company for a roll—a great Easter Egg Roll. I don’t know if we’re going to be successful, but I know a lot of people, they’re going to be successful,” he said. “I’ve seen those kids, and they’re highly, highly competitive.”

Melania then addressed the crowd: “This is the first time that my husband and I hosting this wonderful tradition, and it’s great that you are all with us today. I hope you have a great time with many activities.” She later read from the children’s book Party Animals, which she later praised, saying: “I like it because it shows that we are all different, but we are all alike.”
