Beauty and the Beast’s director Bill Condon is in early conversations to hopefully direct Universal’s remake of The Bride of Frankenstein, which is part of the studio’s planned cinematic universe based on classic monsters, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The first entry for the classic monsters plan was Tom Cruise’s The Mummy, which opens June 9.

The most recent draft was written by David Koepp, and is intended to star Angelina Jolie of all people!

Aside from Beauty and the Beast, which recently hit the $1 billion mark in box office, Bill also directed Dreamgirls, Kinsey, and Gods and Monsters.

Apparently Bill even re-created several scenes from the original 1935 Bride of Frankenstein film for Gods and Monsters, which ended up winning him an Oscar for best screenplay.

This could be a winning team. We’re on board!
