Sylvester Stallone Is Suing WB For Fraud Over 1993’s ‘Demolition Man’

24 years ago, Demolition Man came through in the box office, becoming a smash hit. But as it turns out, its star Sylvester Stallone is still holding a grudge after all these years.

The star is suing WB, alleging “false accounting” and “dishonesty” in its table of profits on the blockbuster, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie also starred Sandra Bullock and Wesley Snipes, and grossed nearly $60 million in North America and $160 million worldwide. Because the film hit the $125 million mark, Sylvester said he was entitled to 15 percent and maybe more of the profits, as per an agreement defining “gross” at the $125M marker.

The agreement also said he would claim 17.5 percent if the movie topped $200M and 20 percent if it surpassed $250M.

Clearly, the sales on VHS, DVD, and Blu-Ray added to much more than theater gross, at least that’s the argument.

In 2014, his agent contacted WB to ask why he hadn’t seen a profit participation statement on the film since 1997. The studio responded saying the film hadn’t made a profit, so no payment is due to Sylvester.

Sylvester’s company questioned the numbers, and were quickly responded with a $2.8 million check with little explanation. This made the star suspicious there was an even bigger payout owed to him. And we don’t blame him!

Get that money, Sylvester! We’ll see how it goes.
