Ed Sheeran Finally Settles Copyright Lawsuit Over ‘Photograph’

Ed Sheeran has been going through a $20 million copyright infringement lawsuit, but it finally reached a conclusion this weekend.

Apparently, songwriters Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard say Ed’s hit song was derived from their own work. But on Friday, court papers were filed dismissing the case with prejudice, but also stipulating that a California federal court would retain jurisdiction to enforce the terms of an agreement, reports Hollywood Reporter.

There’s been no word on settlement terms (how much they settled for).

The lawsuit itself was filed in June 2016 by Martin and Thomas’ publishing company HaloSongs.

Together, they alleged that “Photograph” was taken from their 2009 work “Amazing,” which was recorded and released as a single by Matt Cardle, the 2010 winner of The X Factor.

Their complain charged “verbatim, note-for-note copying” and included sheet music to prove it.

You be the judge…
