Katie Holmes Likes to Scream at Refs at Basketball Games

Katie Holmes isn’t your average Hollywood star who lives for dressing up and walking the red carpets. If it were up to her, she’d be wearing basketball shorts and shooting hoops with the best of them!

“I’m a big basketball fan,” she said on The Tonight Show last night. “My dad played at Marquette under Al McGuire.”

Of course, Al McGuire is a legendary coach, whose first two teams were at Marquette University in 1965 and 1966. That’s right, her dad is that cool, which explains why she says everyone in her family is great at basketball — except for her.

“I’m a very intense fan,” she said. And it’s true, she’s been seen at multiple games at Madison Square Garden. She used to cheer on her brothers and sisters when they’d play games: “I pray. I do rituals,” she admitted. She’ll even heckle!

“I’m not above yelling anything I want at the referee. ‘You’re ugly! You suck! You’re so mean! Those pants are too tight!’ Anything. I just want to be a part of it,” she said.

Oh Katie, you’re our PEOPLE!
