Mindy Kaling made a slight jabby joke at Newark, New Jersey on the recent episode of The Mindy Project. Of course, it wasn’t long before Newark mayor (and late night show frequenter) Cory Booker intervened.

The mayor provided Mindy a Vanity Fair guide to the city, which eventually led to some light flirtation.

Then, he grew the balls to ask her out to dinner. The funniest part? It felt like the entire Tristate egged it on.

After Mindy quickly said she needed get the PATH train schedule, PATH (yes the actual PATH) tweeted the schedule to her. That’s when Cory offered her a Lyft instead (a true gentleman).
