Well, the suspicions have been confirmed: John really misses Katy.

The 39-year-old admitted during an interview with the New York Times today that his new song, “Still Feel Like Your Man” was in fact written about his ex-girlfriend, Katy Perry. The two singers had an on-again-off-again relationship for about a year and a half, finally splitting in early 2014.

When asked if the single was about Katy, John said:

 “Who else would I be thinking about? And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.” He added, “There were times when tears came out of me, and I went, OK, John, this is not about an on-again, off-again relationship. This is something more profound.”

“Still Feel Like Your Man” is one of several breakup songs on his album  The Search for Everything. The star says he hasn’t dated much since his breakup with Katy, though he has unsuccessfully tried a dating app, saying:

 “It’s just lot of chatter…we all talk to the same people. There are very few people actually meeting up.”

John also shared that he really wants a partner and a family. He said:

“I wish there was somebody to throw me the 40th. I want the baby with the protective earphones” [by the side of the stage].”

Aww. We are sure there are a lot of willing participants out there, John!
