Megan Mullally and her husband Nick Offerman just acquired movie rights to the bestselling novel by George Saunders, Lincoln In The Bardo, according to Deadline.

While the husband and wife team are set to produce the movie, no director or cast has been set.

Lincoln in The Bardo was published by Random House and is Saunders’ first novel, which is set in Civil War time and centers around Abraham Lincoln’s grief over the death of his 11-year old son Willie. Much of the action takes place in the graveyard where Willie and other spirits languish in the “bardo,” Deadline describes.

The “bardo” refers to a Buddhist term describing the transition realm between life and death. The novel is a number one bestseller in the U.. and debuted on the New York Times bestseller list just last month.

Saunders, who is known to be a writer of short stories, couldn’t be happier: “I am thrilled to be in artistic cahoots with Megan and Nick, two artists I’ve long admired,” he said to Deadline. “I can’t imagine two more brilliant, wide-open, joyful collaborators. This is going to be big fun. My hope is that we can find a way to make the experience of getting this movie made as wild and enjoyable and unpredictable as the experience of writing it — I am so happy to have such fearless companions on the trip.”
