After Nick Cannon’s departure from NBC’s America’s Got Talent (read more about that HERE), executives were surely scrambling around trying to find the perfect host to fill his shoes, which were some heavy ones to fill. Little did they know, those shoes would be stilettos!

Supermodel and America’s Next Top Model creator Tyra Banks will be ‘smizing’ her way into the role. Howie Mandel, who is one of the show’s judges announced it Sunday night on his Twitter.

Needless to say, it was a surprise for many fans, as Nick has been the host since 2009 and the show was a perfect fit for his zanny sense of humor — but Tyra herself is quite zanny, too. Hello! She’ll be perfect for AGT, which is always the summer’s most-watched alternative series and will begin shooting its 12th season in Los Angeles this month.

“Tyra is the complete package: Out-of-this-world talented, funny, brilliant and all heart,” NBC’s president of alternative and reality, Paul Telegdy, said in a statement. “In whatever she has done, she has always connected with audiences around the world. Her vivacious spirit will infuse AGT in a big way.”

Tyra herself released a statement saying, “Since I was a little girl, I’ve been obsessed with grandiose acts and performers who make the seemingly impossible possible. I love how AGT brings that feeling into everyone’s home, capturing the best of people who come out and give it their all to make those big, fierce and outrageous dreams come true. I look forward to connecting with the dreamers, having fun and giving hugs and words of encouragement when needed. And maybe I’ll get one or two performers to smize for the audience!”
