The character “Lisbeth Salander” from Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is officially back, but Rooney Mara isn’t going to be playing the role again.  WHAT?

Daniel Craig who played journalist Mikael Blomkvist will not be returning either. DOUBLE WHAT?

Sony announced that the follow-up film, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, will launch a global search to find its lead characters.

Six years ago, David Fincher directed the English-language version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The movie was cast so perfectly that it will be hard to imagine someone else playing those roles.

This year, Don’t Breathe’s director, Fede Alvarez, has come aboard to direct the new story.

Dragon Tattoo brought in more than $232 million at the global box office and earned Rooney an Oscar nomination.

Principal photography is set to begin in September and a release date scheduled for October 5, 2018, according to Deadline.

What do you think of the recasting decision?
