Nicole Kidman Explains Her Awkward Clap at the Oscars
There was a lot of explaining to do after this year’s Oscars to say the least, but one person who’s yet to explain her epic viral “seal like” clap is superstar Nicole Kidman.
The moment came when La La Land accidentally won over Moonlight, which was later reversed (read more about THAT here). While many fans are debating as to why the clap was so, well, like that — some say she’d just rubbed hand sanitizer, other say she was a bit drunk and wanted to entertain herself — the Australian actress finally revealed the truth in a radio interview.
‘It was really awkward, and I was like, ‘Gosh, I really want to clap,'” she explained to KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O. “I don’t want to not be clapping, which would be worse right? ‘Why isn’t Nicole clapping?’ So therefore I’m clapping but it was really difficult because I had this huge ring on which was not my own, but was absolutely gorgeous and I was terrified of damaging it.”
