Though Gwen Stefani seems to have moved on from her divorce from Gavin Rossdale (happily together with The Voice co-host Blake Shelton), Gavin says he’s been having a much more difficult time. But despite it all, its allowed him to grow as a person.

In a new interview with US Weekly, the Bush frontman said that since he separated from the singer last year, after 14 years of marriage, the divorce has brought a lot of “pain and sadness” — but at the same time, a new perspective on life too!

“We’re all products of nuclear families,” he said. “My parents have been married three times each. I’m just a junior. I never thought I would get divorced. But it just happens. All these life things. Who knew that was possible? There’s been a lot of pain and sadness. It really teaches you perspective on life. It’s really health, happiness and safety. After that, I don’t know what there is other than that… I’m not sure I’ll [get marriage] again. I’m trying to be a really good dad and make good records and shoot good TV shows.”

Gavin is making new music, and he describes it as a “rebirth, relaunch, and reset” to his new lease on life: “I really believe that there is sort of an energy that makes things collide and work together or not work together. It’s nothing more than an energy and synchronicity. It’s a really great time for me and my boys.”
