Lionel Richie was supposed to do a joint concert with Mariah Carey, but it looks like he has canceled that venture due to a need to recover from knee surgery.

According to TMZ, Lionel had surgery to address a preexisting condition, but complications arose for reasons unknown, which has caused his knee to heal improperly. As a result, he’s postponed the tour to try and get it right.

The duo’s tour All The Hits was scheduled to begin on March 15, which is a little over 2 weeks away. They announced they were going on tour last December, just before Mariah’s epic NYE fiasco.

While it’s always sad to hear a superstar cancel their shows, it should make ticket-buyers feel better to know he’s trying to heal himself properly.

No word on if anyone might replace Lionel on the epic Mariah (plus one) tour, though he’d be a hard act to cover.
