Nico Tortorella on Being Sexually Fluid

Nico Tortorella came out as sexually “fluid,” or demisexual (meaning love before sex, always), in Page Six earlier this year. And in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor and model digresses.

“You know, I was speaking to Page Six about this bigger idea of us as a society, all moving toward one gender, a sexually fluid and emotionally fluid world,” he said, “and that turned into ‘Nico Tortorella comes out as sexually fluid.’ I am so much more than that. I do not define myself by my sexuality. I never have. I’ve talked about that. Have you listened to all the episodes of the podcast?”

His podcast The Love Bomb is a weekly show he launched in August. In it, he has convos about social labels. He’s often invited ex-lovers on the podcast to talk about gender, sexuality, dating and relationships, or as he calls them, “grey areas” he’s interested in talking about.

In one episode he talked about the first time he hooked up with a boy in high school: “The first time is always so nerve-wracking because of the weight that comes with it,” Nico said in a conversation with Younger co-star Molly Bernard. “I looked at him and said, ‘I don’t define myself by my sexuality and neither should you. This is just a byproduct of love.’ Even then, at that point, I was saying the same things that I’m saying now. I’m a human being that loves love before anything else.”
